World Class Product Development Tools…

Founded in 2016, The Point at Otterbein functions both as a business incubator and a “one stop shop for learning, creating, and building” that prepares students with the skills essential for success as members of tomorrow’s workforce. Their classroom and playground is a Maker Space comprised of five creative spaces, providing access to industrial technologies not commonly available to individuals. The Maker Space has a design studio with latex printers and vinyl cutters, rapid prototyping room with 3-D printers and laser engravers, wood shop, metal shop, computer workshop space and an advanced manufacturing lab with a plasma cutter.

Using cutting-edge facilities and equipment, Otterbein University students apply the principles of art, design, theory, and creative thinking to developing, building, and testing a wide array of multi-industry prototypes from furniture to robots.

…Wielded with a Uniquely Creative Perspective

Stablz CEO with Student from The PointAt any point during our ideation process, STABLZ™ can turn to the accomplished Engineering and Computer Science program faculty at Otterbein University for help with incorporating our patented  Tap to Adapt™ technology into your product design. Under their guidance, an entire team of engineering students — who have yet to develop the bias of corporate risk aversion — will provide unfettered creativity in thinking through and identifying things that you and I might have missed. These enterprising students will work through every part of the process from developing functional designs to creating prototypes and testing variations.

A Proven Partnership

STABLZ™ CEO and founder, Gary Hoyle, is a serial entrepreneur who has worked extensively with The Point’s faculty and students. An Otterbein University alumnus and member of The Point‘s Advisory Board, he has worked with them extensively over the past several years to develop and perfect Tap to Adapt™ technology. Their most recent project completed together resulted in a successful design that has already been manufactured and is being launched globally as an All-Terrain Sawhorse from Bora® Tool.

According to Hoyle, “The engineering students at The Point helped with prototyping, testing, tweaking, and designing variations for different uses. I chose The Point because it’s personal. I could have prototypes made anywhere, but I love being here engaging the students. It’s fun for me when the students think. They have to explore different ways of doing things and use creativity. They still learn, even if their idea doesn’t work.”
