I recently came across this question on Quora.com: Why is it so hard for restaurants to get tables and chairs that don’t wobble?

One user supplied this answer: “Because manufacturing isn’t perfect and floors generally aren’t either. Materials fatigue over time. Use cause deformation of metal and creates “play” in the connecting points of the furniture. Plus restaurants have a budget they need to take into account when purchasing equipment.”

This weekend, a friend of mine sent me a picture from a mom-and-pop diner she frequents. The diner serves great food in retired train cars. And it has wobbly tables with napkins under the feet as a makeshift “solution.”

HRO Antenna Tripod Bases

We recently had a conversation on Instagram with a ham radio operator (HRO) who is building this 3-element mini yagi for 4G Band 28. He reports that while it works fine on the ground, he also knows full well that height is might when it comes to cellular reception. The antenna is light and short enough to be mounted to a pole, but it has been his experience that mounting it on a tripod means he’ll also need to affix guy wires to keep it from being blown over by the wind. His ‘good enough for now’ solution for remote operation has been to mount everything on a pole and to hold the pole in place with his hand during use.

There must be a better way.

Temporary Shelter is Possible Anywhere with STABLZ Technology

So when Ohio was struck by 21 tornadoes on May 27 and 28, my heart went out to those who lost their homes. A preliminary damage assessment the first week of June by federal and state agencies identified 942 homes and buildings either destroyed or significantly damaged. And that was just in Ohio. A record number of tornadoes were confirmed across the country during the long series of severe weather in May.
